Melanie's Musings
June 4, 2012

Hello, Armchair BEA-ers,

Welcome to Melanie’s Musings, or MM as I affectionately call it.

Take a sec to read the first line of my Enchanted review.  It’s a good one.

Now, let me introduce myself.

My name is Melanie, but I’m guessing you surmised that already.

I’ve been blogging for three years, since coming across a few book blogs and thinking if they can do it, so can I.

Since I’ve been blogging, the amount of new releases I read has shot up!  I’ve read books by many great debut authors that I never even would have heard of were it not for bb-in’.

I’m planning to do some serious traveling after college, and I’d love to hit a bunch of major bookstores, like The Strand in NYC and Shakespeare and Company in Paris.

Wha’cha reading?

I’m currently into Crossing the Heart of Africa, a book talking about a man who literally walked across a continent in order to prove himself worthy to his woman’s family.  Can you say swoon?

Recently, I’ve been braving the wilds of the unknown (read: kitchen) to bridge the gap between the books I read and the stuff I eat.  I’ve made cheese bread from The Hunger Games, beignets because of Darkness Becomes Her, and chocolate top hats in honor of my favorite mini-series.

I’m really excited to meet new blogging friends, so don’t be shy!

This post answers the following questions:
Please tell us a little bit about yourself: Who are you? How long have you been blogging? Why did you get into blogging? // What are you currently reading, or what is your favorite book you have read so far in 2012? // What is your favorite feature on your blog (i.e. author interviews, memes, something specific to your blog)? // Which is your favorite post that you have written that you want everyone to read? // What literary location would you most like to visit? Why? // Have your reading tastes changed since you started blogging? How?

Oh, those top hats look awesome!!! I like the idea of making food from the books you’ve read! I want to make November Cakes from Maggie Stiefvater’s The Scorpio Races but haven’t brought myself to do it yet.

Here’s my Armchair BEA post for today!

I’m not very brave in the kitchen but the chocolate top hats look really good. I’m not familiar with Crossing the Heart of Africa but it sounds interesting.

I think I’d have loved blogging in college. Unfortunately that was the dark ages when email and the internet in general was just taking off.

My BEA post is here: http://bookslistslife.blogspot.com/2012/06/armchair-bea-introduction-lisa-books.html

Thanks for stopping by! I have to say that I really love your background and the fonts you’re using! They go well together.

That’s so awesome that you’ve made things that you’ve read about in books. I should try that some time.

I would love to do some traveling after college as well! I guess it’s all going to end up depending on money and my career though!

Thanks for visiting me yesterday, Melanie! Looks like you’ve been doing some yummy cooking in the kitchen lately. Those Chocolate Top Hats…magnifique!

If you ever do seek a work at home job, my advice to you is to stick with the search. It might take awhile, but it can be done, as evidenced by me. My hard work and persistence finally paid off.

Hope you enjoy the rest of the A.BEA week!

Crossing the Heart of Africa just went onto my wishlist. Though I had to close my eyes when I came to the picture of the chocolate dessert because I just started a diet and I’m still weak.

I hope you make the book/recipe thing a regular part of your blog. I love cooking and baking.

Did you put Hay-on-Wye on your bookstore trek itinerary? It’s a town in Wales with a lot of bookstores: http://www.hay-on-wye.co.uk/

It’s great to meet you through Armchair BEA! Thanks for stopping by my blog.

I hope you get to travel to many, many bookstores. My favorite book/travel spot was Charing Cross Road in London – amazing! Shakespeare and Company was crazy crowded but very charming from the outside. I hope to visit The Strand very soon.
