One for the Money starring Katherine Heigl

One for the Money stars Katherine Heigl, Jason O’Mara, and Debbie Reynolds. It’ll be released on January 27th.

Stephanie Plum goes from unemployed lingerie buyer to bounty hunter in this action comedy. Her first potential bounty is the breaker of her heart.

The fascinating thing about this novel is that it was orginally published in 1994. It was optioned shortly after by TriStar pictures and was in pre-production for fifteen years. Like Maggie Stiefvater said in a blog post, books-to-movies take a while. This is a perfect example.

This movie is based on a book by the same name, written by Janet Evanovich. It’s part of a series that has 18 novels to date. Eighteen. If this movie is a hit, can you imagine 18 consecutive films? I wouldn’t be surprised if it became a TV series, or if they mashed books together like what happened to The Sisterhood of Traveling Pants 2 and Confessions of a Shopaholic.

Headed to the movies is a new sporadic feature on Melanie’s Musings, like a movie focused Waiting on Wednesday.

I read the first half or so of the 18 and absolutely love the series. I am very excited for this movie! If the movie is done right it should be non-stop fun and hilarious!

I’ve read 16 of the 18 and can’t wait to see the movie, although I wish they had cast “The Rock” as Ranger.

Wow! I didn’t realize there were 18 books in this particular series. Even if it takes years for a novel to be made into a film, it’s worth the wait for any author.

Wow, thats some pre-production period. Sadly I wasn’t able to view the video – I got a message saying that the account holder had closed their account.

I am SO going to see this one. While I’m not a fan of the books, I’ve always thought the voice would transfer better to film.
