FanstRAvaganza: A Near-Perfect Man

Today is Day 2 of the Fanstraganza event.  If you missed Day 1, visit The Many Loves of Lucas, Armitage Academy of American Accents, and A is for Action.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Richard Armitage is well known for playing brooding souls like John Thornton in North and South or Guy of Gisborne in Robin Hood.
Yet there’s one role where Armitage’s character does more laughing than brooding, more smiling than walking around with a furrowed brow.
As Harry Kennedy in The Vicar of Dibley, Richard Armitage smiles and laughs. Plus, when he asks a woman to marry him, she says yes the first time.
Harry Kennedy is a near-perfect man.  Why?
1.  He can laugh at himself.
2.  He’s not afraid to ask for what he wants. (One kiss- with tongues, anyone?)
3.  He’s got a great sense of humour.
4.  He looks good in glasses.
5.  He loves Geraldine’s craziness.
What more could a gal want?
Which expression would you rather see on Richard Armitage?
    You are so right, Harry is so lovable and so sweet. RA should make more comedies.
    What a lovely post about a lovely character. I like the full blown smiles, smirks and brooding, but a personal RA favorite of mine is the smaller smile, with the lips closed.
    I’ve never really thought about Harry taking the mick out of himself. Yet another adorable quality :)
    Such a soft spot for Harry and his smile. It is my most watched DVD and I have 3, one for home, one for travel and one for loan.
    Thanks for joining F3 and for this lovely post!
    I have to admit that Harry is among my least favorite Armitage characters, but I love me a smiling Armitage! It’s so rare on screen!
    I love Harry J. Kennedy. Richard is so good as the handsome stranger that I’ve seen those two episodes so many times that I can play Geraldine and recite her lines by heart (also Harry’s!) . It’s a miracle, since I’m not that good at memorizing :D
    After N&S, VoD is Richard’s work I ‘ve most frequently watched. Thanks a lot , Melanie, for your lovely post.
    Hi Melanie,
    I love Richard’s smile–and he does so rarely. I would love to see him in another romantic comedy in the near future. Sighhhhhh!
    And Harry Kennedy? So delicious!
    Cheers! Grati ;->
    A man in a striped sweater is just super cuddly! And since he can add numbers one would hope there always will be a roof over one’s head. Of course assuming he’s not a stingy accountant. As far as RA having true comedic talent? I’m not convinced he’s got the timing and deadpan delivery … I enjoy his smile but think he excels in brooding & angst.
    I found it fascinating when RA mentioned that Harry Kennedy is closest to his real life personality. I am especially partial to his sweet, good humoured self. I would love to see him act in another romantic comedy!
